SRM Institute of Science and Technology was awarded the highest ‘A++’ grade by NAAC in 2018, which is valid for the next five years. The MHRD-UGC has classified SRMIST as Category I, with a status of 12 B. ABET (www.abet.org) has recognized five engineering undergraduate programmes at the Kattankulathur campus, while IET has approved four more engineering undergraduate programmes (UK). In 2020, NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) placed SRMIST 35th nationwide in the Universities Category. The World rating agencies such as QS (UK) and Times Higher Education also rate the institution on a regular basis.
