  • When will I get admission confirmation?

    After document verification, by paying the 1st semester fee.
  • Is there a Online program of SMIST recognized by UGC?

    Yes. SRM IST Online programmes are recognised by the UGC. You can refer to the UGC website for further information. Moreover SRM IST is a Category I institution and is approved for graded autonomy by the MHRD.
  • Are online education programs equal to the regular programs?

    All the online programmes offered by recognised HEIs are considered equivalent to the regular programmes as per UGC ODL & Online regulation, 2020.
  • Do you have facilities of online payment?

    Yes. All payments are received through online mode only.
  • How does admission process take place?

    The candidate can visit SRMIST website click admissions India and then click online education or visit www.srmonline.in and click apply now for selected program from that, you will be guided through the application process and after providing the basic data you can click “pay application fee” and can upload the documents called for. You will get communication from the SRM IST if you are found to be eligible and then tuition can be paid.
  • Do you accept demand draft for online payment of tuition fee?

    NO. Only online payments are accepted.
  • Do you keep original certificates with you?

    No.
  • Can we submit application and certificate online?

    Yes. All applications & certificates are accepted through online only.

  • Do you have any online examination?

  • How much time does it take for publication of results?

    Publication of results takes place minimum one month from the last day of examinations.
  • Do you have non-semester or semester pattern for your programs?

    Exams are conducted only by semester pattern. UGC has asked all the HEIs to adopt only semester pattern.
  • Online Degrees: Credibility and validity?

    Designed as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations, 2020, SRM Institute of Science and Technolgy (SRMIST) online degree programmes are recognised at par with on-campus programmes. SRMIST online degrees are widely accepted by governments, corporate organisations, and higher education institutions for jobs, higher education, and future prospects, provided other criteria are fulfilled.
  • What is LMS and how it works?

    A Learning management system, (LMS) is a software that is designed specifically to create, distribute, and manage the delivery of Educational Content. The LMS can be hosted as a stand-alone product on the Institution server, or it can be a cloud-based platform that is hosted by the software firm.
  • What is proctored examination & what requirements do I need to appear for the online exam?

    Online exams are conducted with students located remotely, which means there is no way of knowing whether they are maintaining the integrity of the test. This is where online proctoring software comes into the picture to make supervision more efficient, standardized, and straightforward. After the conclusion of any online exam, there is a comprehensive review document, which elaborates, dissects, and explains the student’s performance in the test. But with the implementation of an online invigilation service such as online proctoring software, the entire process is not only automated but it is more efficient, standardized, and simple.
  • Do you offer refresher /value added courses?

    Yes we offer.
  • Are weekly assessments/assignments compulsory?

    Yes. It is a part of Continuous Assessment .Once you complete the current week assessments/assignments, then only, you will be able to proceed to the next week's learning contenton the SRM Online Learning Platform .
  • Is there any other fee component other than tuition fees?

    Yes. Students are required to pay the examination fee.

  • Why my application form may be rejected?

    If it is incorrectly filled/ Incomplete , then your form may be rejected.
  • Is there any attendance criteria to appear for semester/end term examination?

    Online mode: the learner should have minimum participation of 75 per cent. in all the activities of Online programme prior to end semester examination or term end examination as per UGC.
  • What is the refund policy for July 2024 session?

  • When will my internal marks be available?

    Ans: The evaluation process will begin as soon as the assessment closes, and only then will your score be displayed in the student portal “internal mark details” menu.
  • How to upload LAQ’s in weekly assessments & assignments?

    Ans: Both the handwritten scan copy and the Word document pdf copy are acceptable for the assignment.If you see the upload button, you must upload your answer sheet. If you see the text box, you must type your response there.
  • How can I get the hard copies of my marksheet?

    Ans: You can collect the hard copy of your marksheet by paying from the DOE dept in person.
  • What if I missed my examination?

    Ans: You may write it as a backlog along with the next semester.
  • What if I forgot my student portal / learning portal password?

    Ans: Kindly reset the password using the link : https://ssp.srmist.edu.in/resetpassword/
  • How to make a fee payment?

    Ans: Login to the student portal and choose the fee payment menu.
  • Will mode of education be printed in our degree certificates?

    Ans: According to UGC, we specify online mode in the certificate. All online universities must specify the mode as online otherwise the degree would be invalid.
  • Where can I find my Digital ID card?

    Ans: Your digital ID card is available for download on the student portal dashboard, just below your profile photo.
  • How to login to my LMS?

    Ans: Step 1: Login the student portal using your net-id and password
    Step 2: Click the Go to LMS button, below your profile picture
  • How to open all the 15 weekly modules in LMS?

    Ans: All of the 15 weeks of content will be updated in the LMS after the survey is finished. Please fill out the survey and be sure.
  • When can i view the recorded video of Live Session?

    Ans: The recorded video from the live session will be uploaded in 24 hours.

International FAQs

  • Who are foreign students?

    Ans: Students holding passport issued by foreign countries including people of Indian origin who have acquired the nationality of foreign countries.
  • Who are NRI students?

    Ans: Non-Resident Indian students who have studied and passed the qualifying examinations (11th and 12th) from schools or colleges situated in foreign countries (even if affiliated to the Boards of Secondary Education or Universities located in India). Dependants of NRI's studying in India will not be included as NRI students.
  • Who is called as Dual citizen?

    Ans: Candidates who possess citizenship of two countries.
  • What is PIO?

    Ans: PIO (A Person of Indian Origin) who has settled in foreign countries and originated from India.
  • What is OCI?

    Ans: OCI (Overseas citizen of India)- Citizens of India who lives in abroad.
  • Difference between PIO & OCI?

    PIO :A Person of Indian Origin means a foreign citizen (except a national of Pakistan, Afghanistan Bangladesh, China, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Nepal) who at any time held an Indian passport or who are either of their parents/ grandparents/ great grandparents was born and permanently resident in India.

    OCI : Candidates holding the PIO (Person of Indian origin)/OCI (Overseas citizen of India).
  • Are PIO and OCI Card holding students considered to be equivalent to NRI?

  • Where can I find Hall tickets for the Examination?

    Ans: Students can download Examination Hall tickets in the student portal during Examination session.
  • When can I attend the end semester Exams in a year?

    Ans: Students are able to take two exams every year, in July and December.
  • How long do I have time to complete the Examination?

    Ans: The Examination duration is 2:30 HRS. Exams tend to be conducted across two slots. Morning: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and Afternoon: 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM IST.
  • Where can I take my Exams?

    Ans: Examination shall be taken through student portal via Remote Proctored mode.
  • How many courses can I take at each Exam session under a Semester?

    Ans: There is no restriction to the number of courses you may attempt.
  • Where can I find the current Theory and practical Examination timetable?

    Ans: The Examination timetable is published in the student portal- notice board.
  • Where can I see my Arrear Exam time table?

    Ans: The Examination time table is same for Regular and Arrear courses. Kindly check the student portal- notice board.
  • Where can I see the list of courses and their writing method?

    Ans: The list of courses with methods of writing for the End semester Examination is available in the student portal- notice board.
  • I would like to change my Exam date, my practical batch/date. Is that possible?

    Ans: No, it is not possible. No Such inquiries will not be entertained.
  • What happens if I forget my Hall ticket on the day of my Exam?

    Ans: Hall ticket is mandatory to appear for Exam.
  • What happens if I am late for my Exam?

    Ans: It is recommended that you should check in for your examination thirty minutes prior to its scheduled start time. If you log in after the exam has started, you won't be able to log in and will be considered absent.
  • Can I leave an exam if I finish early?

    Ans: Considering the security purposes of Examination, you are not permitted to leave the remote exam environment till the end of your exam time though the exam is completed.
  • What can I do if I think that my results are incorrect?

    Ans: DOE has a range of procedures in place to ensure that the exam results issued are correct. However, if you feel that your result does not reflect your performance, you may request an exam review within one week of the date your results are released.
  • Where can I find the login to take the Mock test?

    Ans: Students can take up their mock test through the student portal before the End semester Examination. Maximum 3 attempts will be provided for each course.
  • Will I be able to go to the toilet, eat or drink during the Examination?

    Ans: Without the invigilator's permission, a student is not permitted to move out of their seat during an examination in progress. Invigilators reserve the right to move a student out of exam if he/she has enough reasons to justify. You will be allowed to carry a water bottle for all examinations. You should obtain prior permission from the invigilator if you are a diabetic patient.
  • What happens if my typing skill is very slow, I am worried that I will not be able to answer all the questions in the time allowed?

    Ans: We advise you to practice typing, and the Exam time duration has been calculated based on your average typing speed. Short descriptive answers should be 300 words in length, while long descriptive answers should be 600 words in length. Keep in mind that quality is considerably more essential than quantity.
  • If it's not possible for me to take my Examination at home. What are my alternatives?

    Ans: You might take your exam at your workplace or ask a friend or family member if you could take it at their house. Exams can also be taken at a cybercafe. It is not allowed to take an exam while traveling.
  • Can I take required Examinations on another day while on leave of absence?

    Ans: No, it is not possible.
  • I’m an International candidate. Do I need to take my Examination at an unusual time?

    Ans: Exams will be held at the same time all over the world, therefore if you live abroad, your exam will be held at the same Indian Standard Time. In general, exams will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM IST.
  • What are the minimum system requirements I need for Online Exams?

    Ans: The system requirements are as follows:
    1. Setup Required- Combination of Laptop/Desktop + Mobile with working Microphone and webcam
    2. Laptop/Desktop [For Question Paper viewing/Open Test]
         - Processor: i3 or equivalent
         - Ram: 4GB (Minimum), Higher is better
          - OS: Windows 7+ supported, However, 10 or higher [Recommended], MAC OS v11+, Linux OS Ubuntu 20.04+
